Service Description

This slow-paced, weekly class will take you on an incredible journey into precious metal clay. Instead of a fast-tracked introduction, we will take our time with each technique so that you can practice and hone your skills in both the wet and greenware state of the clay. This includes, rolling, 2-sided texturing, stone setting, bails, refining, molds, polishing and more. Students will make a variety of pieces with Art Clay silver but we will discuss working with Project X and instructor will demo the differences between the clays. You will also learn torch vs. kiln firing and finishing your work post firing, polishing and patina. This class will teach you the fundamentals and really get you ready for more intermediate projects and guest instructors. Students will receive one 3-hour open studio session of their choice to use for finishing and polishing. Kit Fee: $155 (due to instructor at start of class) Kit Includes: 50 grams of Art Clay Silver, textures from Rolling Mill resources, a variety of gemstones and crystals, fine silver embeddable components, silver wire, instructions and all consumables. *Kit fees may fluctuate with silver/metals market. *Please see our cancellation policy. **Contact us for a materials list if you would like to bring your own materials 443-249-3338 or charmtree@verizon.net (must have soldering experience).

CANCELLATION POLICY: • Students are not considered registered for a class/workshop until CJS receives full payment of tuition. Space is limited to 10 bench seats and therefore NO REFUNDS will be given for any workshop, payment or deposit, once a bench seat is booked. We understand that life happens. In the event that you have to cancel your attendance at one of our workshops or classes, we will hold your workshop fee for six months, to be applied to another workshop or class of your choice. If you do not show for a workshop, class or event and do not reach out to us, you will forfeit your payment. • Refunds are only given in the case that CJS must cancel a class/workshop. In the event that a class does not meet the required number of students, CJS reserves the right to cancel the Convenience Fee: A 2.9% convenience fee is added to all online transactions. Cancellation Policy

Space is limited to 10 bench seats and therefore we cannot issue a refund once a bench seat is booked. We understand that life happens. In the event that you have to cancel your attendance at one of our workshops, classes or events, we will hold your workshop fee for six months, to be applied to another workshop, class or event of your choice, provided you have given us 7 days notice. If you do not show or cancel less then 7 days before the workshop, class or event and do not reach out to us, you will forfeit your payment.

In-Studio conduct

We are a controversy-free studio and do not discriminate.  We will not tolerate any political or religious discussions and will not allow any conversations that make people feel uncomfortable for their life choices and/or beliefs. This includes discussions/inquiries about Covid-19 vaccinations. We reserve the right to excuse any student or instructor who violates our policy.

studio & Kit fees

When registering via credit card or PayPal processing, there will be a 2.9% convenience fee added to your order if you are paying with a credit card. If you choose to pay by check or debit the fee will be waived. 

Most of our classes will also have an additional kit fee to be paid to the instructor before class. There will be a 6% MD state tax added to all kit fees. If you would like to bring your own materials to use you must first get pre-approval from the instructor. 

No outside tools may be brought into the studio unless pre-approved by Melissa. toolboxes for each student here at the studio.
