In this exciting workshop the students will explore the technique of capturing a cabochon, geode or a piece of sea glass by creating a setting with prongs. Students will first sketch a design, then learn how to cut out a back and then solder on prongs to capture their stone or glass. A variety of bail styles will be covered as well as ornamental embellishments. This is an exciting workshop that will push your creative design skills and get you to think outside of your box of bezel wire. Soldering and sawing experience helpful. Due to varying skill levels not everyone will finish their project during class. You may sign up for open studio or bench time to finish your work, if necessary. Bring your own cabochon or sea glass or purchase from the instructor. Skill Level: Beginner Kit Fee: $55 due to instructor at start of class. (This price is dependent on the cost of the materials at the time of order) Kit includes: 22 gauge sterling silver sheet- 2” x 3”, 18 gauge sterling silver wire – 6”, saw blades, solder. (Stones or sea glass additional charge).
CANCELLATION POLICY: • Students are not considered registered for a class/workshop until CJS receives full payment of tuition. Space is limited to 8 bench seats and therefore NO REFUNDS will be given for any workshop, payment or deposit, once a bench seat is booked. We understand that life happens. In the event that you have to cancel your attendance at one of our workshops or classes, we will hold your workshop fee for six months, to be applied to another workshop or class of your choice. If you do not show for a workshop, class or event and do not reach out to us, you will forfeit your payment. • Refunds are only given in the case that CJS must cancel a class/workshop. In the event that a class does not meet the required number of students, CJS reserves the right to cancel the class/workshop up to 3 business days before the class/workshop. Students will be refunded the amount of their tuition, or if you prefer, CJS will hold the tuition as credit for a period of six months from the date of cancellation. Students will be notified of cancellations by phone or email. • Students missing or dropping a class/workshop will not receive a refund, credits or make-up dates unless specified by the instructor. However, you may come in during 1 open studio (reservation and approval required) to finish your piece. • A fee of $30 will be charged for each returned check. ***A 2.9% convenience fee will be added to all transactions that pay with a credit card.
