Wrap it Up: A PMC & Dichroic Glass Intro

Service Description

He's back by popular demand! In this one-day class students ill make a fine silver and dichroic glass pendant using the "Envelope" method technique developed by Michael J. Marx of Unsane Art. Students will first choose their glass then sketch out a design before building with layers to create a gorgeous piece of art. In this demo-heavy class, Michael will teach you, numerous ways to texture clay, how to refine it in the greenware state, and how to create elements to support and enhance your piece. He will also show you a variety of bails, tips and tricks with the clay and push you to come up with your own unique style. You can expect to truly grasp this versatile method for incorporating glass into your metal clay pieces and how to safely fire your completed piece. Most students will make one piece but depending on skill level you could make two (+$ for extra glass unless you bring your own). Those who have taken the previous class with Michael will be pushed to take their skills to the next level. Depending on time, students may need to pick up their pieces the next day or they can have them shipped for a small fee. We will break for lunch. Skill Level: Beginner+ (some clay experience helpful) Kit Fee: $25.00 and is due to instructor before at the start of class. Kit Includes: a dichroic glass cab, blue tack, texture papers by Rolling Mill Resources, drinking straw & release agent. *Students should bring: 20+g of Project X Flex or equivalent, standard toolkit, extra firm size zero clay shapers, work surface, textures, press molds, & lunch. (Instructor will have shaper tools, work surfaces, molds and textures to share). **If you need to reserve a studio tool kit please email Melissa at charmtree@verizon.net or call the studio at 443-249-3338 ***The studio will have clay for you to purchase if you do not bring your own.

Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATION POLICY: • Students are not considered registered for a class/workshop until CJS receives full payment of tuition. Space is limited to 9 bench seats and therefore NO REFUNDS will be given for any workshop, payment or deposit, once a bench seat is booked. We understand that life happens. In the event that you have to cancel your attendance at one of our workshops or classes, we will hold your workshop fee for six months, to be applied to another workshop or class of your choice. If you do not show for a workshop, class or event and do not reach out to us, you will forfeit your payment. • Refunds are only given in the case that CJS must cancel a class/workshop. In the event that a class does not meet the required number of students, CJS reserves the right to cancel the class/workshop up to 3 business days before the class/workshop. Students will be refunded the amount of their tuition, or if you prefer, CJS will hold the tuition as credit for a period of six months from the date of cancellation. Students will be notified of cancellations by phone or email. • Students missing or dropping a class/workshop will not receive a refund, credits or make-up dates unless specified by the instructor. • A fee of $30 will be charged for each returned check.
