Service Description

Join Julie Sanford in this 2-day technique driven workshop where you'll design a modern pendant or pair of eye-catching negative space earrings or both. She will offer other designs as well. You will choose from a palette of gemstone chips to add colorful inlay and use a new, easy system of hand finishing stone (no power tools needed!) to level and smooth. Additional tips and demos on alternate stone finishing methods will also be demonstrated. You will fine tune your fabrication and finishing skills, pick up a few bench tricks, and learn many new applications for using gemstone inlay in your future work at the bench. Julie will also share easy tips for sourcing and chipping stone on your own. No previous lapidary skills required. Skill Level: This class is for students who have experience in sterling fabrication and soldering. Kit Fee: TBD (Due to Instructor at start of class) *Please see our cancellation policy.

Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATION POLICY: • Students are not considered registered for a class/workshop until CJS receives full payment of tuition. Space is limited to 10 bench seats and therefore NO REFUNDS will be given for any workshop, payment or deposit, once a bench seat is booked. We understand that life happens. In the event that you have to cancel your attendance at one of our workshops or classes, we will hold your workshop fee for six months, to be applied to another workshop or class of your choice. If you do not show for a workshop, class or event and do not reach out to us, you will forfeit your payment. • Refunds are only given in the case that CJS must cancel a class/workshop. In the event that a class does not meet the required number of students, CJS reserves the right to cancel the Convenience Fee: A 2.9% convenience fee is added to all online transactions. Cancellation Policy

Space is limited to 10 bench seats and therefore we cannot issue a refund once a bench seat is booked. We understand that life happens. In the event that you have to cancel your attendance at one of our workshops, classes or events, we will hold your workshop fee for six months, to be applied to another workshop, class or event of your choice, provided you have given us 7 days notice. If you do not show or cancel less then 7 days before the workshop, class or event and do not reach out to us, you will forfeit your payment.

In-Studio conduct

We are a controversy-free studio and do not discriminate.  We will not tolerate any political or religious discussions and will not allow any conversations that make people feel uncomfortable for their life choices and/or beliefs. This includes discussions/inquiries about Covid-19 vaccinations. We reserve the right to excuse any student or instructor who violates our policy.

studio & Kit fees

When registering via credit card or PayPal processing, there will be a 2.9% convenience fee added to your order if you are paying with a credit card. If you choose to pay by check or debit the fee will be waived. 

Most of our classes will also have an additional kit fee to be paid to the instructor before class. There will be a 6% MD state tax added to all kit fees. If you would like to bring your own materials to use you must first get pre-approval from the instructor. 

No outside tools may be brought into the studio unless pre-approved by Melissa. toolboxes for each student here at the studio.
