Service Description

Create a tiny sculptural jewel box inspired by the hidden world of the ocean floor. Using bronze metal clay, you’ll build a circular container decorated with sand, kelp, shells, fish, and other sea-worthy details. A removable charm necklace rests on the lid, while the chain feeds through a small opening and stores neatly inside the box. Students will create at least two charms, with enough clay to make more. Techniques covered include constructing small hollow forms, adding sculptural surface detail, and designing interchangeable components that work together as a cohesive piece. This workshop is ideal for students ready to explore narrative, sculptural metal clay work that balances function, storytelling, and craftsmanship. *Students may create this in silver clay but will need to bring their own. *Chains are not provided. NOTE: Base metal clays require a two-phase firing schedule and, due to the thickness of these pieces, a slow burn-out is required. Firing will be done upon completion of project. Due to skill level, some students may need to pick up their work the next day. Shipping arrangements are also available. Kit Fee: $45 (due to instructor at start of class) Kit Inludes: 50g Aureus Bright Bronze metal clay, dowel rod sections, two charm molds (Starfish and small shell) fininishing materials, consumables and instructions. *Studio will provide molding material for small fee if students want to bring shells and molding materials. Or bring your own molds
